New toys – LDG Z11pro Ultra Autotuner
A new tuner arrived today to replace my LDG Z100 Ultra. The Z11pro is frequency sensitive, which is good for use with the FT-817 because there is no built in tune function on the FT-817, while there is on the FT-857 and FT-897. The Z100 Ultra is off to work on an FT-897 so it hasn’t been wasted.
Instructions were provided on fitting an internal battery pack (quite important for portable work). I’ve improved them slightly by putting a little piece of adhesive sided foam in to hold down the battery cables, and also a thin piece of compressable foam to make sure the batteries don’t leap out of the holder. If you’re doing this, make sure the foam is low density and thin, otherwise too much pressure will be applied to the PCB. 3-4mm should be enough. A photo of the tuner is below (with a link to the full size photo).
